In 2019, TWUC introduced an Educational Scholarship Program to provide a learning opportunity to the underwriters in their early and mid career, for those who are passionate about expanding their underwriting skills. The scholarship award covers the conference fee and 2 nights hotel stay, as well as a plethora of opportunities for learning new skills and meeting other underwriters. Travel and meals should be the responsibility of the winner however most meals will be taken care of by the conference and vendors/conference sponsors.
We are happy to announce the winner of our new Scholarship Program: Breann Brown from New York Life Insurance Company!
New York Life Insurance Company
Breann began her underwriting career in June 2018. Prior to that, she had worked with variable annuities, life annuities, and mutual funds for two and a half years where she obtained her Series 6 license. Breann enjoys the analytical and creative aspects of underwriting – skills that she developed when she obtained her Bachelor’s in Music with a concentration in Music Theory at the University of Texas at Arlington. She is always open to learning new information and thus far is one course away from earning her ALMI designation – she then plans to pursue the AALU designation. In her free time, Breann likes to continue playing trumpet in community bands, attending classical concerts, hiking, and loves everything Beagle-related.
While our program is closed for 2019, we look forward to continuing this program in 2020.
